Nollywood actress and ex-beauty queen, Mina Horsefall in this revealing interview with Encomium magazine this week said she was betrayed by two people who were once very close to her, er first cousin and her boyfriend who she dated for two years. Mina, who is first cousins with another ex-beauty queen, Helen Prest Ajayi, says still hasn’t gotten over the shock of their betrayal. She said :

“My first cousin and my ex betrayed me. The whole story is complicated. She dated my boyfriend and married him. I had no idea what was going on until they were about to get married because she was pregnant for him. I did not introduce him to her. She knew him. He was my Uncle’s best man and we were in the bridal train. He met us together and went after me. We had a relationship for some years, two years at a stretch, then it became off and on and all those times she knew. She was even engaged to someone else at the time. Unknown to me she ‘worked’ her NYSC down to Lagos to have my boyfriend. She was living with him and it didn’t make any sense to me. Until later on, I found out they were getting married. What pained me most and the worst part of it was when I got to hear about it and confronted him, he said he can never do anything with my sister.and there you are getting her pregnant and marrying her. It got all messed up. This happened in September 2012. I haven’t forgiven them. I don’t think I ever will”

6 Nigerian Tunes to Help You Get Over Your Ex

Relationships are beautiful things, no doubt. They give you this sense of security, that someone special has got your back; you have someone to run to whenever it seems the whole world is turning against you, and best of all, that you are being loved for who you are.
Unfortunately, bad relationships are sometimes inevitable. The best thing any ‘victim’ can do is to do everything possible to get over such mishap – and everything allied to it.
One good way to do such is to listen to songs that will help you get over your ex. It’s rather sad that most Nigerian singers have subconsciously neglected this dark area of life, and gradually (over time), no one is saying anything therapeutic about breakups. This inspired the research for the most suitable Nigerian tunes for breakups; not really the ones that will keep you moping over your misfortune, but those that should really help you get over your ex!

Say Your Love - P-Square

"You say your love no dey lie, say your feelings no dey die; see me girl (now) I dey cry". You'd think guys were the ones bad with promises until you give this track a good listen. She even cheated on the innocent and sincere P-Square with 'his' best friend. "Get out of my sight make you find your way" goes the verdict of the 'played' lover. Too bad he loved her 'pass his mama', and now he wants to die. But he won't! Put this soulful classic tune on replay all day, and I bet you'd feel better about your breakup, especially if you actually pulled the red card!

Ego – Djinee

Okay, love-bereft and heart-broken boyfriends are finally tired of begging and doing everything to please the unloving girlfriend, and are ready to go and 'start life anew'. This is the lamentation of a lover who has put everything into a relationship he really thought would move to the next level - marriage, and had been a victim of spiteful criticism from friends and family because of the love he has for a woman who did not appreciate or reciprocate this feeling in the slightest bit. "If I die how I go appreciate say when I dey this world I don fall in love? If you help me see Ego, make you tell am I don go...” tuneful singer and super-producer Djinee bemoans. Such plaintive and emotional pidgin-English tune for any regretting lover who wants to leave everything behind and start all over.

Game Over – P-square

Failed promises from a woman again; and the incredible crooner twins are once again the victims. She kept hanging up when he called, and she kept telling all her friends she wanted to break up – all this after cheating badly. Thank God he didn't wait till she did the worst.
Warning: “If I dey go left, make you dey go right… if I dey go front, make you dey waka dey go!” So sorry about the break-up, but that part is a bit funny. That game was truly over! Tell that ex with all confidence; “this game is over”!

Not the Girl – Darey

You’d almost be moved to tears even without a bad breakup or an unforgivable ex when you allow yourself to dive deep into the grief-stricken lyrics and penetrating instrumentals of this song. The song is not yet at the break-up stage, but it will serve as a good reminder of how you noticed her/his negative changes, how you thought you 'lost her/him long ago like a book that's left the shelf' and how much you'd been expecting her to leave. Stop wondering how it all went wrong, forget how much you tried and all the tears you cried - she's gone and gone for good! With a strong resolution to put the emotions in check 'next time', all in a bid to protect his 'poor heart', this is versatile and multi-talented Darey Art Alade's masterpiece for loves gone bad.

Bibanke – Asa

This emotional masterpiece translates to 'When I'm Crying'. This song tells the story of a bad break-up obviously initiated by a guy who was actually no longer in the relationship except for his physical appearance. Asa bitterly recounts how the player swayed her with his sweet words and very believable assurances earlier in the relationship, and also regrets how she'd been 'a fool'. "When I'm crying, even if water is flowing, just leave me alone!" At the end of it all, classic lyricist Asa only had 'surrendering everything to God' as a last resort. There are very strong lyrics throughout the song. This sad tune with Yoruba chorus and bridge will surely be evergreen for bad break-ups!

PHOTO : Nigerian Sentenced To Death For Drug Trafficking In Vietnam

A Ho Chi Minh City court on Monday sentenced a 31-year-old Nigerian man to death for smuggling more than 3.4 kg of synthetic drugs from Qatar to Vietnam in June 2012, VietnamBreakingNews reports.

Ejiogu Benjamin Ikechukwu, who arrived at HCMC’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport on June 23, 2012, was charged with illegally transporting drugs, the HCMC People’s Court said.

While examining Ikechukwu’s luggage upon his arrival, customs officers discovered 19 bags of white powder hidden in 16 metal cylinders and a laptop adapter. Tests conducted later showed that the powder was methamphetamine, a kind of synthetic drug.

Ikechukwu was arrested the same day and confessed that he was carrying the cylinders and adapter for a man named Onyekachi, who is still at large.

According to Ikechukwu’s testimony, Onyekachi said that when he arrived in Vietnam, someone would contact him to take pick up the goods.

Under Vietnam’s Penal Code, those who are convicted of smuggling more than 2.5 kilograms of methamphetamine will be given a death sentence.

The capital penalty is also applied for those who are indicted for producing or selling 100 grams of heroin or 300 grams of other illegal narcotics.

Several foreigners have recently been sentenced to death for smuggling drugs into Vietnam.

In June 2012, a Ho Chi Minh City court handed down the death penalty to a 23-year-old female student from Thailand for trafficking three kilograms of methamphetamine from Benin to Vietnam.

Death penalty statistics are not released in Vietnam, but the punishment is handed down most frequently to those convicted of murder or drug-trafficking.

Vietnam officially switched from the firing squad to lethal injection in November 2011.

However, a lack of lethal injection doses led to a delay of executions because the original decree stipulated that the drugs be imported from the European Union (EU).

On February 2, 2012 the southern Tay Ninh provincial court sentenced Chinese national Zhu Yin Xiang, 48, to death for trafficking over 1.3kg of heroin from Cambodia into Vietnam . Xiang was arrested on August 16, 2012, at the Moc Bai boder gate in the province .

Last October, a court also sentenced a 61-year-old Filipino woman to death for smuggling five kilograms of methamphetamine into the country.

In regards to the execution of death sentences, Vietnam switched from the firing squad to lethal injection in November 2011, under a decree from the Law on Criminal Verdict Execution, approved by the National Assembly in 2009.

However, the new execution method took years to implement due to a failure to import the necessary materials from the European Union (EU), which banned the exportation of lethal injection drugs because it considers capital punishment a violation of human rights.

Therefore, the Government amended the decree, allowing domestically produced drugs to be used for executions.

The decree took effect on June 27 and the first execution by lethal injection was carried out in Hanoi on August 6.

The EU banned the exportation of lethal injection drugs because it regards capital punishment to be a violation of human rights.

The Vietnamese government later amended the decree, which took effect on June 27, allowing domestic-made drugs.

Last August, Vietnam executed its first prisoner by lethal injection , ending a two-year pause in capital punishment.

There are currently 586 people on the death row in the country.

Another plane crash averted in Abuja

Another day, another plane mishap news. Another air disaster was averted at the Nnamdi Azikwe Airport, Abuja yesterday Monday October 28th as a Med-View Airlines aircraft carrying 150 passengers from Lagos suddenly took to the air again at the point of landing in Abuja, Punch reports.
The pilot told the passengers that he took to the air again to avoid a collision with another aircraft on the tarmac. The airline Flight VL2104 took off from the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos at noon and was scheduled to land in Abuja at about 1.05pm.
The pilot had already announced final descent into Abuja and asked all passengers and cabin crew to fasten their seat belts but the pilot suddenly took off to the air again with barely 30 seconds to touch ground.
After about three minutes of gaining altitude, the pilot announced that he decided to take off again to avoid colliding with an aircraft that was on ground.
He said that after he had been granted clearance to land, it was later discovered that the other aircraft was not fast enough, hence his decision to take off.
The aircraft hovered for another 20mins in the air before finally landing at about 1.30pm.

Jonathan moves against Oduah, as another minister is made to sign BASA

The Bilateral Air Services Agreement is supposed to be signed by Nigeria's Minister of Aviation but when it happened a few days ago in Israel, it wasn't Stella Oduah that signed it. In a move to show that he is serious about probing Ms Oduah over the N225m bulletproof cars bought for her by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, President Jonathan asked the Minister of State I, Foreign Affairs, Prof. Viola Onwuliri, to sign the agreement on behalf of the Federal Government. (Pictured above).

Thing is, BASA has nothing to do with the Foreign Affairs Ministry. The other thing is, Stella Oduah was present at the signing...but she sat with other Nigerian delegates as an observer.

While explaining why she joined Pres. Jonathan's delegation to Israel last week, her special adviser on media, Mr. Joe Obi, said it was to sign the BASA. President Jonathan decided at the last minute to keep her from signing on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria. See a pic of Stella Oduah at the BASA signing after the cut...
