cult-war
A bloody clash, Saturday night, among friends said to be members of the Eiye confraternity has claimed 10 lives in Owina quarters, off Ekenwan road in Benin City, Edo State.

At least six members of the group, according to sources, are on the danger list at an undisclosed hospital within the Ekenwan road axis, while three were been treated for injuries they sustained from bottle and knife stabs.
The fracas was said to have started when one Chris and Uwaila, who were said to be both members of the group engaged themselves in an argument over paying respect to an uncle’s wife.
Uwaila was said to have openly challenged Chris over the inability of the latter to greet his uncle’s wife, when she came to pay complimentary visit to them during a burial ceremony at Owina.
Irked by his friend’s response that he was under no obligations to greet her, Uwaila whom it was learnt was already tipsy, picked up two empty beer bottles, broke them and stabbed his victim on both sides of his ribs.
This action drew a sporadic reaction from Uwaila’s loyalists, who were quoted as shouting: “You dey f**k my guy, I am sure that you are a member of Eiye confraternity.”
Confirming the incident, a senior police officer, at Evbotubu Police Division, who crave anonymity, said the division was on top of the matter as some arrests have been made.
