Popular actress Liz Anjorin surprised many recently when photos of her
on Muslim Pilgrimage to Mecca surfaced online. She later announced that
she was changing her religion from Christianity to Islam. She also
dropped the name Elizabeth and announced that she would like to be
addressed as Aisha, in light with her new religion. Liz has finally
opened up about why she made the decision..

"It happened in a miraculous way which I have been expecting for long, not that I woke up yesterday and decided to change my religion. By birth, I was half Muslim and half Christian. My father was Christian while my mum was Muslim. Growing up I went to church because of my father. I didn't have a choice at the time but I have always had interest in Islam so immediately my father died I switched over to my mum's religion. It is a religion I love so much. Also Aisha is now my official name though Liz is still my name and I will continue to use the name to do movies.

In a case that has appalled France and investigators say “defies the
imagination”, a baby girl was forced to live hidden in the boot of her
parents’ car for almost two years!
The tiny baby was found naked and feverish by mechanics who were carrying out repairs on the family’s Peugeot 307 car.
The mechanics were alerted to the child’s presence after hearing “strange noises that sounded like moans” coming from the rear of the vehicle.
The mother, 45, a Portuguese woman known only as Rose-Marie, claimed that the noise came from “toys”.
But the men insisted on opening the boot and were horrified to discover a small, dehydrated and apparently feverish child lying naked in its own excrement.
The mechanic who found the girl, Guillaume Iguacel, said today he was still in shock from the discovery. That the girl’s mother appeared to have little concern for her daughter.
He said:
The mother told investigators that she had kept the child’s existence from her husband, an unemployed builder, also Portuguese, who police were unable to question straight away given his drunken state.
The mother said she gave birth alone then hid the baby in the boot. It has no birth certificate and apparently no name.
“It appears the child had been hidden from her birth, and even worse is seriously retarded,” said Jean-Pierre Laffite, the prosecutor in nearby Brive-La-Gaillarde.
He said the girl’s height, weight and mental development didn’t conform to her age, estimated to be between 15 and 23 months. She cannot speak a word.
“It’s a situation that defies the imagination,” he added.
The little child’s parents have been charged with child abuse and neglect, and social services have taken into care their three other children – a four-year-old girl and two boys aged nine and 10.
The couple, who remain under strict judicial supervision, face a maximum ten-year prison terms if convicted.
As to the motive for hiding the baby, a judicial source said: “(The mother) provided none. That remains the big mystery.”

NAIROBI, KENYA: A passenger was on Monday night shot dead in a robbery on a matatu along Mombasa Road, Nairobi.
The
Nigerian national was riding on a matatu that was headed for Kitengela
when some of the passengers turned out to be thugs and car jacked it.
Police and
witnesses say the deceased had refused to heed the thugs’ orders and
tried to argue with them as they demanded cash and other valuables.
Nairobi
County police chief Benson Kibue said witnesses say there had been an
argument between the gang and the deceased before he was shot at close
range.
“We
have always advised the public to heed orders of armed thugs or anyone
armed. That way we will ensure our safety but we are hunting down on the
gang,†said Kibue.
The
gang later commandeered the bus into a dark alley along Mombasa Road
where they robbed the passengers with the deceased man inside and later
escaped on foot with the loot.
Cases
of carjacking are on the rise in the city and police are struggling to
contain them. Last Friday, two suspected thugs were shot dead and two
pistols recovered  in a botched carjacking incident on a matatu in
Nairobi's Buruburu area.
Four passengers were shot and seriously wounded in the confrontation that ended after a long chase with police.

Police say
five other carjackers managed to escape after slipping through the
windows of the matatu along Jogoo Road and it is believed the same gang
has been behind a series of the incidents on the route.
Police have
been directing matatu operators to institute measures to curb the
menace that is now on the rise. Up to four cases are reported weekly in
the city.

Some time ago, U.S. News & World Report ran a fairly extensive article plus slideshow(with
renderings, not photos) about the home. But Gates -- who was originally
quite voluble about the home -- hasn't talked much about it since.
Among its unique features:
• A 2,100-square-foot library has secret bookcases and a dome with oculus. The ceiling is engraved with a quote.

• It has a pool with a "fossil motif" floor. You can swim under a glass wall to emerge near a terrace outside.

Only about 20 percent of the home is family living space, including
four bedrooms and nanny quarters. Much of the rest of the square footage
is given over to a reception hall, offices, conference facilities, a
computer room and other gathering spaces.

The compound has seven bedrooms and 24 bathrooms -- and six kitchens,
presumably because the home hosts receptions and conferences.
• It has a "trampoline room" whose ceiling is 20 feet up.

"Miles of communication cable, largely fiber optic, run throughout the
house," U.S. News reported, "linking computer servers powered by the
Windows NT operating system. In each room, touch-sensitive pads control
lighting, music, and climate. Visitors will wear small electronic pins,
which will let the computers know who and where they are. Lights and
other settings will adjust automatically. Floors throughout the house
(and the driveway) are heated."

Much of the home is nestled into the hillside and
underground. According to the architects: "A sod-covered guesthouse is
sited at the highest point of the property. Invisible on approach and
entered between two concrete walls, the building is choreographed to
give a sense of moving through the earth to discover the distant lake
and mountains."

Nollywood Actor, Ray Daniels Okeugo Dies After Brief Illness
Actor and photographer Ray Daniels Okeugo died on the evening of Friday the 25th of October 2013, in Lagos, Nigeria at the age of 33. Okeugo acted in many soap operas and home videos before taking into photography. His burial arrangement is being planned by Lagos state chapter of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) led by Victor Osuagu.

It is with deep regret that we announce the passing on of our friend, brother and member Ray Daniels Okeugo. This incident took place on the evening of Friday the 25th of October 2013, in Lagos, Nigeria. Until the mentioned day, he was a founding member of Invisible Borders Trans-African Photographers Organisation, and has been behind every success of the Organisation’s activities since its inception. As a photographer and an actor in the Nollywood film industry, he will be remembered for his unquenchable energy. He exudes the demeanour of “the last man standing”, and this goes a long way to highlight our shock at his sudden exit from this world, after just a brief illness. Everyone who knew him can attest to the fact that he carried within him an undying urge towards selflessness. He made himself readily available and good to go no matter the situation. We will miss him everyday henceforth, and nothing will ever be the same with his indefinite absence. But in all, we will hold on to the good memories we shared with him. We may have lost him, but he has not lost his place in us – his legacy will be upheld by this organisation which benefited immensely from his nature always to give.Our heartfelt condolence goes out to his family and friends, and we wish them strength to bear this irreplaceable loss.
Ray, we wish you a pleasant journey onwards.
