Lazio midfielder Eddy Onazi is the talk of Rome today after chasing down a mugger and handing him over to local cops!
There was no way the Nigerian was going to let a local villain get away with stealing from a Rome tourist.
“I was having dinner with my brother near to the Termini Station and there were some tourists sitting next to us,” Onazi told LazioStyle Radioafter the story hit the headlines.
“I saw a boy and immediately felt due to his suspicious behaviour that he wanted to steal something. I didn’t even have time to tell my brother that he had already snatched the tourist’s wallet and run off. “I noticed it, so I ran after him, but stayed on the other side of the street. I ran for 300 metres, the mugger left the wallet under a car, but I saw him.
“I chased him down and brought him back to the restaurant, avoiding the ire of the people around there. I told the restaurant owner to call the police and we brought the wallet back to the lady. She was in tears and thanked me, as the wallet was full of money.
“At that point, seeing as the situation had been resolved, my brother and I left.”

Muslim Man Escapes Death, Wakes Up From Coma And Converts To Christianity
According to reports, a stoic Muslim who suffered from a sudden brain aneurysm that left him in a coma has converted to Christianity after a miraculous recovery.
The young man, Karim Shamsi-Basha was reportedly in a coma for a month in 1992 but when he woke up, he began a 20-year journey that lead to him becoming a Christian.
His neurosurgeon told him he had seen very few people in his condition go on to make a full recovery and suggested that Mr Shamsi-Basha find out why he survived.
Mr Shamsi-Basha, who is a photojournalist, talks about how he practices Islam as a teenager;
‘I prayed five times a day. I walked to the mosque before sunrise. I fasted the month of Ramadan,’ he said.
When he was 18 he left the country, ran by the first Assad regime, to study at the University of Tennessee in the U.S. before working as a photojournalist at a local newspaper in Birmingham Alabama, getting married and fathering a son.
It was in 1992 when he was covering a fire at Independent Presbyterian Church for his local newspaper, that Mr Shamsi-Basha collapsed in its car park where he suffered a brain aneurism that could have left him paralysed.
He wrote a book about his journey, called PAUL AND ME, which includes chapters about Paul – one of the Bible’s best known figures – whose conversion to Christianity took place in the city of Damascus.

United States Commend Nigeria Over Power Privatisation
Nigeria double-edged power privatisation exercise is received commendation from the government of the United States of America.
Carlos Pascual, United States special envoy and coordinator for international energy affairs gave the commendation at the just concluded Nigerian Investment summit in New York, describing the exercise as unprecedented.
Pascual said that there are few countries in the world where such a wholescale exercise was carried out to completion.
The US envoy however cautioned the Federal Government to ensure full implementation of the exercise to avoid its failure.
He noted that in the course of implementing the privatisation exercise there are huge business opportunities that would emerge, adding that the country must increase its power generation about four times of the planned 10,000 megawatts.
In addition to the privatisation of the generation and distribution power assets, the Federal Government in its bid to boost generation to its planned 10,000 target has continued to build 10 additional power plants.
There are 11 Distribution Companies (Discos) and 6 Generation Companies (Gencos) and then there is the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
Following the approval of the National Council on Privatisation chaired by Vice President Namadi Sambo late last year, the preferred bidders paid a total of $335,854,986.15, which the transaction process required them to pay as bid guarantees.
The distribution companies and preferred bidders are Abuja Distribution Company, Kann Consortium; Benin Disco, Vigeo Power Consortium; Eko Disco, West Power and Gas; Enugu Disco, Interstate Electrics Limited; Ibadan Disco, Integrated Energy Distribution and Marketing Limited.

Teenagers Launch Locally Made Rocket In Imo, Causing Confusion
Two pupils of the Federal Government College, Okigwe, Imo State have caused a stir in Umuchime Ubahu community in Okigwe Local Government, with the launch of a “rocket” they built from local materials. The rocket, which was supposed to travel five kilometres, went further than programmed and landed in a residential area, causing a stampede.
The residents of the house where the rocket landed, alerted the police, thinking it was a bomb.
Commissioner of Police Muhammad Musa Katsina, however, dispelled fears of terrorism, saying the “amateur scientists”, who launched the home-made rocket, did not intend any harm.Katsina, however, urged the residents to remain security-conscious and report suspicious movements to the police.
The police boss, who briefed reporters yesterday, said there was a bomb scare in the community when the two science students launched their rocket.
He said police investigation showed that there was no criminal intent, adding that it was a case of innovation and adventure.
“There was no terrorism motive in the act. We enjoin people to go about their activities without fear,” Katsina said.
He went on: “The manufacturers of this rocket are not terrorists, they are rather talented science pupils keen on developing their scientific skills. They should be encouraged.
“The rocket has been deactivated and is safe. The components as discovered by the Police Bomb Disposal Unit do not contain any radioactive or toxic element.
“Because the boys intended no harm, no punitive measures will be taken. I will rather recommend that they be encouraged so that they can achieve greater things.”
The teenage scientists asked for Federal Government’s sponsorship to enable them improve on their skills.
They said they built the rocket as part of a school exercise, which earned them a second position in a competition.
They said they were inspired to launch the rocket when they heard of the National Space Development Agency’s plan to launch a climate-monitoring satellite into space next year.
