Anambra: 180 Persons Arrested In Owerri. But Who Are They – Thugs Or Election Observers?

The police of Imo State said it had arrested 180 persons with voter cards, INEC identity cards, and Independent Observer Identity cards. The arrested people, however, have insisted that they are election observers.

They were arrested at Disney Hotels, along Owerri-Onitsha road, Owerri.
Commissioner of Police of Imo State, Mohammed Katsina, said that the persons came from Osun State and were heading to Anambra for the election. 

Close Friend Dupes Mikel Obi Of N100M

Nigerian top footballer, Mikel Obi has been reportedly duped of N100m by a close friend.

According to report, Mikel was shown a property for sale by this close friend.
The footballer then went on to inspect the property and was satisfied with it.
He was said to have given this friend a cheque of N100m to purchase the property.
The friend after clearing the money has reportedly disappeared into thin air and till date Mikel is yet to hear from him.
According to a source who confirmed the story, Mikel still finds it difficult to believe as they were very close, adding that the friend is no longer seen in town and his phone numbers have been unreachable.
The source also said Mikel is still very much busy to come to Nigeria to report the case to the police.

Lamido Cancels His Plans to Fight for Sons Release

November 14, 2013, Thursday, can be marked as a black day for the family of the Governor of Jigawa state, Sule Lamido, as two of his sons, Mustapha Lamido, the District Head of Bamaina, and his elder brother, Aminu Lamido,were taken into custodyby the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over the allegation of money laundering.

The duo was picked up in their separate homes in Kano on Thursday’s night and were flown to Abuja by the Anti-graft agency for further investigation.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF), on Friday, released the lists of candidates for the 2013 African Player of the Year and African Player of the Year (Based in Africa) awards.

Twenty-five players have been shortlisted for the flagship African Player of the Year category while 21 players based in the continent slugs it out for the domestic category.
Sunday Mba, scorer of Nigeria’s winning goal in the 2013 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) and Mohamed Aboutrika, who led Egyptian champions Al-Ahly to the 2013 Caf Champions League triumph, got double nominations each, both in line for the two awards.

Sunday Mba Nominated for the African Player of the Year and the African Player of the Year (Based in Africa) Awards by Caf.

Ivoirian Yaya Toure is the reigning AfricanPlayer of the Year and Aboutrika for the African player of the Year (Based in Africa).
The winners will be announced at a Glo-CAF Awards Gala billed for Lagos, Nigeria, on Thursday, January 9, 2014.

The State Security Service (SSS) has detained senior personnel of 13 Nigerian banks over allegations of financing terrorists operations and money laundering believed to have been perpetrated by Aminu Suleiman Lamido, son of Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido.
The banks whose staff have been picked up are Fidelity Bank Plc, First City Monument Bank Plc (FCMB), Wema Bank Plc, Access Bank Plc, Skye Bank Plc, First Bank Nigeria Limited (FBN), Sterling Bank Plc, Diamond Bank Plc, Zenith Bank Plc, Unity Bank Plc, Ecobank Plc, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc (GTBank) and Citibank.
