Soyinka Slams Use Of Vulgar Words In Campaigns, Indicts Presidency

Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka has condemned the crudity of words used by politicians in the ongoing electioneering campaign, describing it as an “uncultured art of political persuasion,” which he said the presidency is guilty of.

Speaking, yesterday, in Lagos at the public presentation of a book titled “Modern and Tradition Elite in the Politics of Lagos” written by Ambassador Patrick Dele Cole, Soyinka also dismissed former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s book, “My Watch”, as “three tonnes of doctored and self-serving narratives”.

Pope Francis Asks God For Painless Death

Pope Francis knows he may be assassinated and accepts it but asks God for painless death as he is ‘a real wimp’ when it comes to physical pain.

In an interview with tabloid La Carcova News, the Pontiff said, “Life is in God’s hands. I have said to the Lord, “You take care of me. But if it is your will that I die or something happens to me, I ask you only one favour: that it doesn’t hurt. Because I am a real wimp when it comes to physical pain.”

Beautiful College Student Found Dead In Hotel Room, Suspected To Have Been Poisoned [PHOTOS]

21 year old Sabrina Cammock, a popular college student studying public health at Syracuse’s David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamic, was found dead in a Times Square Hotel room in New York yesterday morning Saturday March 7th after partying with friends the previous night.

The athlete, who was a member of the Syracuse University track and field team, was on spring break with a group of friends when the sad event occurred, After partying, they retired to their room only for Sabrina not to wake up the next morning.

A police source told the New York Daily News:

‘They all went to sleep, and when they woke up, she didn’t wake up.’

No drugs were found in the room and there were no signs of trauma on her body. Despite this, some of her friends on Twitter are saying that someone may have slipped something in her drink while out at a club the night before, and whatever it was killed her in her sleep.

“President Jonathan Is Chairman Of Boko Haram” – Maiduguri Truck Drivers To BBC

Nigerian truck drivers who have survived a journey through Boko Haram territory relax out of the sun under the porch of a building.

Most of those in the group drive tankers of petrol, diesel or kerosene to and from Maiduguri – the city at the heart of the Islamist insurgency in the north-east and the capital of Borno state.

Gathered at the Ogere Trailer Park, about 50km (30 miles) north of Lagos, they say they have all been affected by the six-year conflict.

“We are all concerned about the situation, we have all lost relatives, wives and children are kidnapped and houses have been burnt,” says Atiku Abubakar.

Speaking in Hausa, he and his colleagues describe the perils of the route to and from Lagos.

It takes two and a half days when a tanker is empty and four and a half days when full.

They say it is dangerous enough without the militants to contend with as there are so many potholes.

“Ten of my colleagues who ply this route have been killed in the last three weeks,” says Mr Abubakar.

“The militants stopped them and cut off their heads with an electric chainsaw and burned the trucks,” he says.

“Boko Haram is usually only interested in commandeering smaller vehicles, sometimes the fighters will take the lorries, but most of the time they burn them.” continue after the cut

Buhari Is The Next President And Jonathan Is Aware Of That – Obasanjo

Former Nigeria’s president Olusegun Obasanjo has spoken about the certificate controversy rambling WASC certificate of the presidential candidate of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) General Muhammadu Buhari (retd).

Obasanjo said that incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan is aware that his opponent is capable to run for February presidential poll but some hawks with Jonathan, do not want him to contest because they believed that he will win and come for them.

According to ex-president, “The issue came up in 2007, and we investigated and found out that his WASC is with the military and that was why he was allowed to contest in 2007.

“Buhari cannot listen to anyone about his certificates because as a General of Nigeria Army, he will speak when he chooses not by Femi Fani Kayode and Okupe asking him. Fayose and other corrupt people including Kashamu do not want Buhari because of his anti- corruption slogan.

Than Obasanjo disclosed that “even Jonathan did not finish his PhD course but when it was presented we stated that, it does not matter but many people do not know because it was PDP thing. I see Buhari as the next President and Jonathan is aware of that, and that is the reason they are hitting him everywhere to put confusion in his camp. But a General is always a General.”

Ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) accused General Buhari of not having the appropriate education for running in the forthcoming February election.

General Buhari was made to hold a press conference on January 21, 2015, as the military denied been in possession of his academic credentials.

The Government College, formerly Provincial Secondary School, Katsina, finally released the secondary school certificate examination results of the APC presidential aspirant. But in spite of this some politicians continue to trail Buhari’s certificate saga.

Air Algerie flight AH5017 missing with 116 people on board

An Air Algerie Flight AH 5017 which took off  this morning from Burkina Faso’s capital Ouagadougou has lost contact with traffic controllers.This happened 50 minutes after take off.

The company said in a notice posted on its website that the aircraft took off from Burkina Faso and was supposed to land in Algiers at 0510 local time but never reached its destination.

According to AFP,Flight AH 5017 flies the Ouagadougou-Algiers route four times a week.The missing aircraft has 110 passengers and six crew on board...
