The President-elect Muhammadu Buhari, has sent a goodwill message to
British Prime Minister, David Cameron, congratulating him on his victory
in the just-concluded British elections.
This is contained in a statement released in Abuja on Saturday by Malam
Garba Shehu, Director, Media and Publicity of the All Progressives
Congress Presidential Campaign Organisation.
In the statement, Buhari said he looked forward to
collaborating with the British government led by Cameron, after his swearing-in on May 29.
"Nigeria and the Great Britain have enjoyed good relationships, and we
look forward to developing even stronger ties," the statement quoted
Buhari as saying.
It said that the President-elect also commended Cameron for the role
that the British government played before, during and after the Nigerian
elections.
"Britain, the U.S., EU, ECOWAS, AU and the UN have played vital roles in
ensuring that democratic norms were adhered to during our elections.
"Their role in the smooth outcome of the just concluded Nigerian elections can never be over-emphasised," the statement said.
It further that the Nigerian President-elect looked forward to
furthering the "special, warm and friendly relationships" between the
government and people of Nigeria and the UK under Cameron.
