Boko Haram Abducts Over 400 Women & Children from Damasak, Borno

Boko Haram insurgents have abducted over 400 women and children from Damasak town in Borno State.

Damasak is said to have been freed by by troops from Niger and Chad earlier this month.

Reuters reports that residents of the town confirmed the abduction.

The exact number of people abducted is yet to be confirmed, however; numerous sources say is it is over 400.

Obasanjo Decries Rumours Circulating About Presidency’s Plan to Hand Governance Over to Military

 

Former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, has condemned rumours circulating that President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration plans to hand over to the military if he is defeated in Saturday’s presidential elections.

Obasanjo commented on the matter while hosting the South West women of the APC led by Aisha Buhari, Vanguard reports.

”There are five people who have taken the laws of Nigerian movie industry into their hands. They are Emma Ogugua, Murphy Stephen, Sunny McDon, Okey Bakassi and Ifeanyi Dikeh.

These five people registered Actors Guild of Nigeria as their personal business. No other individual can come in.”My first concern is to clean up Nollywood, clean up AGN. Every Nigerian youth want to act movies now, what future are we leaving for them? Where are they going to write their names?”..

UPDATE: Jonathan Goes To Buhari’s Hometown, See What People Did After He Left

President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday travelled to Daura, Katsina state and told the people that the idea of an interim national government (ING) being talked about by some politicians was strange to him and such a call is “treasonable”.And  Well immediately Jonathan left the city, the people took to the road with water and brooms to wash their road.

The president revealed this as he paid a visit to the Emir of Daura, Umar Faruk Umar, with members of the PDP presidential campaign organisation, top government functionaries and prominent northern leaders.

Daura is the hometown of Jonathan’s main opponent for the 2015 election, the All Progressives Congress’s Muhammadu Buhari, and Buhari is expected to win the region in a landslide.

The president said that those who were suggesting an interim government were wrong, and their actions could be said to be treasonable as they contravened the constitution of the country.

He said that those who don’t follow the law will be dealt with accordingly.
